Your Life is Social, Why isn’t Your Company?

We all know that social media has made a huge impact on the internet. We use it on a daily basis, updating our status, chatting with friends, and using it in many different ways. Now the questions is, why can’t the company you work for do the same? In the past, companies has block all usage of current sites their employees can’t access because it will interfere with their work. The employes couldn’t be on Facebook all day playing the games on the sites such as Bejeweled, Farmville, and Cafe World. Just as when people couldn’t use the telephone for personal reasons. Now that social networking sites are becoming popular, it is the only way to reach out to the people.

The Huffington Post reviewed a survey The Top 10 Corporate Social Media Prediction of 2012 which includes the companies: Ebay, Mercedes, 24 Fitness, Ring Central, Walgreens, Adobe, AVG, Thomson Reuters, Boeing, and Cars.com. Useful Social Media gave their input as to why the social media will help these companies get more businesses. The websites gave some suggestions as to what they can do to have a profiles in the social media. For one of the suggestions, they added that, the companies could hire someone who deals with the social media communications. They can spread the words of special deals and upcoming sales within their company.

Since most of the people are on Facebook, they could simply push the “Like” or “Subscribe” button on the companies profile. Now Facebook is not the only site they can have a profile on, Google Plus is another social networking site that is getting big. The Useful Social Media website suggested Walgreens should expand on making profiles on other websites as well. They think by doing this, it would help their sales and bring up their rates for the company.

I would say this is a good idea to do because everyone is on these social networking websites daily. When I’m on I see Starbucks constantly posting specials and advertising new drinks and such. They create events on Facebook, for example, last year during earth day, they made an event where you bring your own mug and you get a free drink for saving paper. If these 10 companies do the same, I’m pretty sure their sales will increase.
